U-shape buffer

An accumulator allows, for example, to separate the operation of a manufacturing unit from the packaging area. Even if the packaging machine stops, the processing machine can continue to operate with the same capacity. The packaging machines then operate at a slightly higher rate to absorb the accumulated products.

Procys can provide different types of buffers depending on the needs and configuration of the lines. 

Some technologies allow optimizing the space in height or in length, others allow to reorganize the products in the same operation… The key issue is to ensure independent product flow between two machines.

In the example above, the accumulator keeps products flat in the belt respecting the same system and can even eliminate gaps in production. This application is based on a FIFO (First In First Out) system.

The system above is composed of 2 specially designed belt conveyors and a 180° bend installed on a mobile carriage driven by a Brushless motor. The storage capacity is given by the extra transfer length between the shortest and the largest travel, according to the buffer stroke (minimum & maximum position of the 180° bend).

There is no contact to products except the belt. The buffer is suitable to any product sizes without change parts. A photocell detects production gaps and stops the infeed belt until next product row arrive, in order to optimise the buffer capacity.
