Bio
Kaitlyn Casulli, PhD, is the Founder of Risk Busters, LLC, a food manufacturing consulting company based in Athens, GA. Her work focuses on product and process development for value-added food manufacturing to ensure safe, wholesome foods. Her efforts are focused on assisting small food companies with getting their products on the market through process approvals, label development, and various chemical/microbial analyses. She has a particular interest in revitalization of rural communities through introducing food manufacturing. Kaitlyn’s research and Extension projects in her previous role focused on validation of alternatives to thermal processing, including high pressure processing and cold-fill-hold methods, and novel food product development for Georgia commodities. She is a process authority and can talk endlessly about the nuances of different processing methods. Her experience with helping Georgia food entrepreneurs has helped her to understand community needs and tailor her programming to serve emerging food companies. Kaitlyn holds a bachelor’s degree in Food Science from North Carolina State University and MS and PhD degrees in Biosystems Engineering from Michigan State University. When she is not helping food manufacturers, Kaitlyn enjoys checking out breweries in her travels and spending time with her dog, Porter.
