Trifle is a typical English dessert however it has it’s origins in Spain where it was called Bizcocho Borracho (drunken cake) due to the amount of sherry it contained. In Spain it was a popular dessert because it combined different flavours and it was introduced into England by an English Princess that married a Spanish King. The marriage did not last but the dessert remains popular to this day.
A Trifle consists of layers of different ingredients such jam, cream, fruit and sponge fingers and the Sponge Fingers, Trifle Sponges and Sponge Discs produced by Jeurgens are ideal in the many variations of this famous dessert. These products are produced semi-finished for industrial purposes or fully packed for retail.
